Bitter cold, snow blowing into Wisconsin
DELAVAN — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect for southeastern Wisconsin—including Walworth County—from 6 p.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday.
Snow is expected by Tuesday evening and will continue into Wednesday night, with accumulations of around four to six inches, with higher amounts occurring near the Illinois border. More lake-effect snow showers are expected into Thursday morning.
Winds from the northeast will average 10 to 15 mph.
Below-zero temperatures are expected on Tuesday night.
Freezing rain or drizzle could also be an issue in southern Wisconsin, and could affect driving conditions.
The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs suggests drivers keep a winter emergency kit in their cars, with such items as candles, matches, flashlight, pocket knife, snacks, a cell phone adaptor, a blanket and extra clothing. For a complete list, see http://ReadyWisconsin.wi.gov.
