No. 8 Warhawks women fall twice in Las Vegas--This week’s trip to Las Vegas wasn’t a lucky one for the UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team.

The Warhawks suffered a pair of losses at the D3hoops.com Classic, losing 68-67 on Monday, one day after falling 91-77 to No. 16 Carthage.

UW-W returns home with a No. 8 ranking, which will likely take a hit in the next poll, and an 8-3 overall record.

The Warhawks led with six seconds left on Monday, but Ohio Northern’s Carly Thomas dribbled the length of the court and was fouled in the lane with three seconds to go. She hit both free throws to win the game.

The Warhawks shot just 29 percent.

On Friday, Carthage dominated the paint, jumping out to a 14-point halftime lead and never looking back. It outscored Whitewater 50-18 in the paint.
