Vivian F. Kratz, 89, Footville, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Footville. She was born in Center Township, June 3, 1924, the daughter of Clyde Lester and Eva Amelia (Domholt) Snyder. She married James D. Kratz, Jr., June 5, 1949, in Footville Methodist Church. Vivian graduated from Janesville High School in 1941. She then graduated from Swedish American School of Nursing in 1943. Vivian was a nurse at Edgerton and Stoughton Hospitals. She also worked for Doctors Purdy and Smith of Janesville. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star, AFS, Rock County Homemakers, Badger State Telephone Association, New Horizon United Methodist Church, and Footville American Legion Auxiliary. Vivian was also a member of Busy Hands and Badger Club in Jamaica Bay, Fort Myers, Florida.

Vivian is survived by her son, John (LeAnn) Kratz of Orfordville; daughters: Elizabeth (John) Slovnik of Waukesha, WI, Donna (Steven) Bennett of Whitewater, Sue Kratz of Janesville, Joan (Steven) Thompson of St. Francis, MN; 12 grandchildren: Molly and Emily Slovnik, Michael Bennett, Kelly Komornicka, Angie Forrest, Jennifer Reigle, Jody Gaulin, Nathan Kratz, Amie Moore, Megan VanHorn, Lindsey Thompson and Katie Thompson; 14 great-grandchildren; AFS Daughter, Marlon Canlas of The Philippines; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and sisters, Sylvia Mitchell and Virginia Marshall.

A memorial service was held at the New Horizon United Methodist Church on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, with Reverend Forrest R. Wells officiating. Burial in Grove Cemetery. NEWCOMER-SILVERTHORN FUNERAL HOME, Orfordville is handling arrangements.
