Harold William Long, Sr., Edgerton, WI (1929-2013)

Harold William Long Sr., 84, of Edgerton, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on April 17, 1929, in Monroe, son of the late Vinton and Almeda (Potter) Long. He was united in marriage to Pauline Milam on Dec. 17, 1950, in Janesville. Harold lived and farmed in the Fulton Township for 63 years. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, watching the birds, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline (Polly); three daughters: Pearl (Everett) Shumway, Arlean (Steve) Meissner and Nancy (Ron) DeWar; two sons, Michael (Sharon) Long, all of Edgerton, and Harold, Jr. (Billy) Long of Milton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Alta Mae Schulz of Oregon, WI; one brother, James Long of Beloit, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Athena Long; three brothers, Ralph, Loid and Raymond; and one sister, Mildred Schulz.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Edgerton, with Rev. Barbara Wells officiating. Burial will be in the Rock River Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES of Edgerton is assisting the family.
