JANESVILLE--Janesville City Council member Matt Kealy will seek re-election in April while incumbent Kathy Voskuil has decided not to run for a fourth, two-year term.

Kealy, 31, of 1203 Winchester Place, is seeking his second term. Kealy, who is self-employed and owns Kealy's Café and the Sizzlin' Grill, is currently council vice president.

Voskuil filed her declaration of non-candidacy Friday morning. She has served six years on the council and currently is its president.

Three seats are open in the April 1 election.

Incumbent Jim Farrell also has taken out nomination papers. Challengers so far include George Brunner, a former council member and former city police chief, and city resident Mark Bobzien.

Residents can pick up papers in the city clerk's office, 18 N. Jackson St. Applicants need more than 200 but not more than 400 signatures to be included on the ballot.

Nomination papers must be returned by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.
