Bluebirds fall in tourney opener
DELAFIELD--Janesville failed to convert power-play opportunities in the first period, and that cost the Bluebirds in a 4-0 loss to Waukesha in the opening game of the Joe Raymond Memorial Holiday Hockey Classic on Thursday.
“We had three power plays in the first period,” Janesville coach John Mauermann said. “We had a couple of chances but just didn’t finish.”
After a scoreless first period, Waukesha took control with two power-play goals in the second. Waukesha concluded the scoring with two third-period goals.
“It would have been nice to do something in the first period,” Mauermann said.
The Bluebirds return to the Nagawaukee Ice Arena today for an afternoon game against Brookfield Catholic Memorial.
