Former lawmakers endorse Spreitzer
BELOIT--Mark Spreitzer has picked up more endorsements in his campaign for the 45th Assembly District.
Spreitzer, a Beloit city councilor and assistant director of alumni and parent relations and annual support at Beloit College, is running as a Democrat.
Recent endorsements came from former Reps. Dan Schooff, Chuck Benedict and Kim Hixson.
“We need more young people in office to bring a fresh perspective to the legislature,” said Schooff, who was first elected to the Assembly in 1998 at the age of 26 and later served as secretary of administration for Gov. Jim Doyle. “I've been impressed by Mark's enthusiasm for the issues, and I know from watching his service on the city council that he has the experience he needs to represent the district well in Madison.”
At this point, Sheila De Forest, also a Beloit city councilor, is challenging Spreitzer on the Democratic side.
