RVC girls hoops: Road teams sweep

Clinton won what may end up being the highest-scoring girls basketball game in the Rock Valley Conference this season on Thursday night.

The Cougars scored 51 first-half points on their way to an 80-50 road victory over Big Foot.

Clinton moved to 3-1 in the Rock Valley South and 4-1 overall. Big Foot fell to 1-3.

The Cougars were led by senior post Mallory Niemann, who went 8 of 9 from the floor and scored 19 points. Taryn Ciochon added 12, all on 3-point buckets.

Big Foot’s Morgan Courier led all scorers with 21 points.

• McFarland 40, East Troy 25—The Spartans held the host Trojans to six second-half points en route to a 40-25 Rock Valley Conference girls basketball victory Tuesday night.

Rosie Rundie had 17 points for McFarland, which is 4-0 in the conference and 4-3 overall.

M.E. Dodge led the Trojans (2-3, 1-3) with six points.

• Jefferson 60, Evansville 33—Macy Graf scored 21 points and Katy Heine added 16 as the visiting Eagles soared past the Blue Devils.

Hannah Anderson had nine points to lead Evansville (0-5, 0-3).

• Parkview 30, Palmyra-Eagle 16—Sara Kearns poured in a game-high 12 points as the Vikings improved to 2-2 in the Rock Valley South and 3-2 overall.

Parkview led 17-7 at the break on the road.

The Panthers fell to 0-5 and 2-5.

Brodhead 60, Beloit Turner 22—The Cardinals jumped out to a 30-10 lead and cruised to remain atop the Rock Valley South standings.

Senior forward Carly Mohns scored a game-high 17 points for Brodhead. Kayla Washburn led the Trojans with a dozen.
