Edward J. Sokolowski, 72, of Elkhorn, WI, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee, after an apparent heart attack. He was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Dubiel) Sokolowski. Ed attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Ed served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was united in marriage to the former Judith A. Gehrke on April 4, 1970, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Richmond, IL. Ed’s career was in finance; he started working as a loan officer for Production Credit Association in Elkhorn, then was branch manager for Blackhawk Credit Union of Delavan, and then Walworth State Bank, retiring in 2006. He currently was working as a Bailiff at the Walworth County Courthouse. Ed was extremely involved with the Walworth County Fair, serving on the Fair Board for over 30 years becoming Treasurer in 1983 until 2004. He is currently the President, elected in 2004. Ed served as Director of the Walworth County Fair Foundation, Board of Directors and was past president of the State Association of Wisconsin Fairs, a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and serves on the finance committee, member of the Elkhorn Knights of Columbus council # 3464, charter member and past president of the Elkhorn Rotary Club, he was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger Fan, enjoyed biking, reading, hunting and going to sock-hops. But his true love was his family, he was especially proud of his daughters and his five grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Ed will be truly missed by his wife of 43 years, Judy; two daughters, Stacey (Mark) Malvitz of Elkhorn, WI, and Amy (Bret) Mullikin of Tomah, WI; five grandchildren: Afton, Brynn and Bode Malvitz, Nola and Knox Mullikin; one brother, Chester (Joyce) Sokolowski of Burlington, WI; one sister, Nancy (Mike) Hayes of Campbellsport, WI; and by a host other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 107 W. Walworth Street, Elkhorn, WI, with Father Oriol Regales officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3 until 8 p.m. HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI.
