David F. Byerley Jr. age 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Dave was born June 28, 1933, to the late David F. and Elsie (Swarens) Byerley, Sr. in Braceville, IL. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, class of 1951. Dave married Joan Stevens on June 20, 1964, at Darien Methodist Church. As a young man, Dave worked as a dairy farmer, raised sheep and was well known throughout the region as a superb sheep shearer. He worked as a machinist for Borg Indak of Delavan, for 28 years, retiring in 1999. Dave was a true outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting, riding his BMW motorcycle and fishing at his cabin in Hayward. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his two sons, David (Andrea) Byerley and Kirt (Crystal) Byerley; his daughter, Linda (Steve) Stayner; nine grandchildren: Cora Byerley, Charlie Hewitt-Byerley, Al Chism, Victoria (Phillip) Kluss, Simon Byerley, Max Byerley, Jason (Jenny) Stayner, Stephenie (James) Letcher and Lindsey Stayner; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Ann (Jim) Thompson, Mary Lou (Bill) Fardy; two brothers, Kenneth Byerley and Karl (Hazel) Byerley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Robert Byerley; and his sister, Maxine Funk.

Dave's Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the RIVER OF LIFE METHODIST CHURCH, 402 Church Street, Clinton, with Rev. David Carlson officiating. Friends will be received on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at the BRIAN G. MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday at CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
