Charles Quentin Crabtree, 79, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 7, 2013, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. Charles was born in Elkhorn, WI, on May 2, 1934, to Quentin and Marie (Wittmus) Crabtree. Charles graduated from Harvard High School in Harvard, IL, and he attended Carthage College in Kenosha, WI, before joining the United States Army and traveling to Alaska, for active military duty. Upon completion of his military service, he undertook ownership and growth of Chuck's Metal Finishing Company, now in Fort Atkinson, where he remained owner/operator for more than 30 years, until his retirement. Charles married Lillie Hustad on Oct. 22,1991.Charles was a member of the Gideon Organization and attended the Church in the Barn.

Surviving Charles are his wife, Lillie of Fort Atkinson; seven children: Neal (Nantana) Crabtree, Randi (James) Kubek, Charles Crabtree, Jr., Robert Crabtree, Michael Crabtree, Diane (Ken) Tabaka and Kathy Rannow; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan (William) Hisel of Kenosha, WI 5 stepchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; and a brother-in-law.

Visitation will take place at NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, 1008 Madison Avenue, Fort Atkinson, from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. Pastor William Bartz will officiate a Memorial Service  at 5 p.m. A luncheon will follow at Jansen's Banquet Hall, 1245 Whitewater Avenue, Fort Atkinson, from 6 until 8 p.m.
