Van Buren Elementary School wins U.S. Cellular contest
JANESVILLE—For the second year in a row, a Janesville school will receive thousands of dollars in a U.S. Cellular contest.
The company announced Tuesday that Van Buren Elementary School has won $25,000 in the Calling All Communities contest.
The money will pay for digital technology such as SMART Boards, iPads and mobile computer labs, the school district announced previously.
The school was one of 20 nationwide that won the same prize. Supporters of the schools voted online as many times as they liked. The top 20 schools with the most votes won.
Van Buren came in second place in the contest. An Appleton school took first place.
Janesville's Monroe Elementary School won $50,000 last year. The rules were revised this year, making the maximum prize $25,000.
