Green County judges appoint new court clerk

MONROE—A panel of Green County Judges has appointed a replacement for Green County Clerk of Courts Carol Thompson, who is resigning later this month.   

According to a letter to Thompson from Green County Circuit Judge James R. Beer dated Dec. 5, Thompson plans to retire effective Dec. 31.

The judges appointed Green County Deputy Clerk of Courts Barbara Miller as Thompson's replacement, according to a Dec. 5 letter from Beer to Miller. Miller will serve the remainder of Thompson's unexpired term, according to the letter.

Miller has been a Green County employee for 29 years and has experience dealing with traffic, child support, small claims, civil, criminal and family procedures, according to the letter. Miller also served as a judicial assistant to Beer for two years, according to county records.

Miller will be sworn as the new clerk of courts Dec. 31.
