Alan Gene DeLong, age 52, passed away unexpectedly of heart complications on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. He was born on June 9, 1961, in Madison, the son of Donna J. and Darrel E. DeLong. Al was a 1979 graduate of Craig High School in Janesville. He lived in Janesville, until meeting his wife, Sharon Lappen. They were married 9-10-11. He worked at Robinson Cleaners in Janesville, before joining WPS in 2003. Al loved his family, friends, playing poker and watching the Packers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Derek (Jean) Lippert, Christopher (Mysty) DeLong, Benjamin DeLong and Jennifer (Nate) Meyers; seven grandchildren: Hailey and Carter Lippert, Cameron, Hannah and Andrew DeLong, Aubrey DeLong, and Shelby Meyers; step-daughter, Heather (Nick) Hodel and their son, Cohen; sister, Teri (John) Luepnitz; two nieces, Katie Randell and Katlyn Luepnitz; mother-in-law, Lucy Punke; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Al was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at ABIDING SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 406 Cottage Grove Road, Cottage Grove at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the CHURCH on Friday.
