January 13, 1947 - November 28, 2013

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Jay (Krueger) Anderson. Her earthly pain is over and she is re-united with her beloved father, Harold Krueger and grandmother, Dorothy Krueger in heaven. She has finally found peace after a four year battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 13, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, and she left us on Thanksgiving, Nov, 28, 2013 at 4:20 p.m.

Karen was a member of St. John's Church, Evansville, and was very strong in her faith. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1965, and furthered her education at UW-Whitewater and UW-Milwaukee, earning a Bachelor's Degree and Masters in the fields of Education and Library Science. She was always taking classes to further her education and achieve more accreditation. Karen loved teaching and children, books and reading, cats and animals. She was an amateur Storyteller and loved going to the Storytelling Festival in Cape Girardeau, MO, with her sister, Kathy. Karen was the school librarian and taught in Medford, Clintonville, Valders, in WI, and the Moline area in Illinois. While in Illinois, she enjoyed giving guided tours at the historic Davenport House. She retired in 2008, and returned to Evansville. She was a strong single mother who overcame many hurdles that life presented. Her daughters are thankful for her teachings of baking, sewing, crafts, thriftiness, and a huge love of reading. She was generous to anyone in need. Volunteering, Girl Scouts, and church camp were big parts of her life as she raised her daughters. Karen enjoyed her outings with her sister, Kathy, shopping, dining out, craft fairs, movies, and traveling.

Family left behind to mourn are: her mother, Mrs. Harold Krueger (Bessie) of Evansville; two daughters, Sarah Anderson and special friend, Keith, and Amy Darabosh and special friend, Lonnie, and their son, Aidan Ray "Goodbye, Gamma Karen", and Lonnie's son, Avi, all of Oshkosh; two sisters, Kathy (Loren) Pfaff of Evansville, and their children, Andrew and Jennifer (fiancée, Eric), and Kristine Brunsell of Phoenix, AZ; aunts: Mary Gregerson of Janesville, June Bryhn of Crestline, OH, and Betty Krueger of Evansville; cousins: Randall Bryhn and Eddie Bryhn of Ohio, Alan Krueger, Susan Krueger and Julie Redders, all of Evansville, Matthew Gregerson of Kansas City, MO, Glen Gregerson of Evansville, Dawn Perez of Janesville, Mary Dreger of Belleville, WI, Bridget Pells of Green Bay, Danny Morger of Quilcene, WA, Julie Ashe of Randle, WA, Brian Morger of Preston, MN, and Jody Morger of Mercer, WI. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Brad Brunsell. Karen's two cats, Daisy and Luther, will miss her and have moved in with the Pfaffs.

Amy and Sarah are forever grateful for the care and time their aunt took on when Karen moved back to Evansville, as well as, the last sick years. Special heartfelt thanks is extended to the wonderful, caring staff at the Kelly House and The Heights in Evansville, and Agrace Hospice. We would also like to thank Karen Grace Brunsell for her time and caring for Karen.

A Celebration of Karen's Life will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Evansville, on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 11 a.m.
