JANESVILLE—Both southbound lanes of traffic on Interstate 90/39 are now open after being shut down before noon Sunday.

Multiple crashes around 11:40 a.m. Sunday on I 90/39 between Kennedy Road and Milton Avenue blocked all southbound lanes, according to a Wisconsin State Patrol news release.

Traffic flow was affected for about two hours, the release stated.

At least six vehicles needed to be towed out of ditches, and at least one person was reported to be suffering from a shoulder injury, according to scanner chatter.

Roads were reported to be slippery. Public works crews are out treating roads in the city and county.

The National Weather Service in Sullivan issued a winter weather advisory at 11:17 a.m. Sunday. It will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.

The advisory indicates periods of snow will cause travel difficulties with snow-covered, slippery roads and limited visibilities.
