MIDDLETON—Kaitlyn Foster scored 21 points, but visiting Janesville Parker couldn’t keep up with a taller Middleton team and fell, 71-64, in a Big Eight Conference girls basketball game Saturday night.

Foster, a sophomore, led the Vikings in scoring.

“She did a great job,” Coach Tom Klawitter said. “They looked for each other. They haven’t played a lot with each other, so hopefully that is a sign of things to come.”

Klawitter was impressed by the way his young team hung with the Cardinals on the road.

“For us to play that hard is something,” Klawitter said. “They did a good job.”

The Vikings trailed by just a point, 48-47, entering the final quarter. Middleton used free throws late for the final seven-point advantage.

Kathryn Dubanowich and Jessica Thompson each added nine points for the Vikings. The game featured 17 three-pointers, including 10 by the Cardinals.

Parker plays at Beloit on Tuesday.
