The Indian Trails District of the Glacier's Edge Council Boy Scouts of America hosted its first New Scouts Pinewood Derby on Nov. 1 at St. William's School gymnasium.

The district serves Boy Scouts who live in Orfordville, Footville, Janesville, Evansville, Milton, Edgerton and Beloit in Wisconsin and South Beloit, Roscoe, Rockton and Shirland in Illinois.

More than 170 Scouts registered for the race-a single-elimination event on eight lanes with digital bracket tracking that showed only a .002 of a second difference between the top two finishers.

Overall top winners were: Karson Combs, first; Mathew Pierce, second and Jeremy Schoville, third.

Judge's choice awards went to Eli Sheetz, most colorful; Adam Hendrickson, most original; J.J. Schlegel, most patriotic; Dustin Foss, fastest looking; Tyler Reed, coolest looking and Karson Combs, best in show.

All kids not racing chose the Kids' Choice Award. It was given to Jeramiah Deschaine.
