Parker girls go on road to beat Memorial
Janesville Parker's zone defense dug in in the second half.
The Vikings girls basketball team switched to the zone and held Madison Memorial to just 11 second-half points as Parker picked up a 45-31 victory in its Big Eight Conference opener on Thursday night.
The Spartans made just 10 of 37 shots in the paint.
Parker sophomore Bree Porter paved the way for the Vikings (1-1 overall) with a dozen points. Paige Smith added 10, while Kathryn Dubanowich had nine. No player scored more than six for Memorial.
The Vikings are back on the road at Middleton on Saturday night.
