Emily Ellsworth Bell, 99, of La Crosse, and formerly of Elkhorn, WI, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, surrounded by loving family members, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse. She was born Sept. 17, 1914, in La Salle, IL, to Harvey and Emma (Murfin) Wilson. On Sept. 16, 1937, Emily married Lucius Ellsworth and he preceded her in death in December of 1961. She, then, married Claude Bell in 1965, and he preceded her in death in April of 1986. Emily lived most of her life in Elkhorn, Walworth County, WI, until moving to La Crosse County in 2010. She will be remembered for her love of card playing and family get-togethers. Emily enjoyed taking long rides in the car while admiring the beauty of the countryside.

Survivors include four children: Barbara Williams, Betty (David) Hedgecock, Robert (Patricia) Ellsworth, and Linda (Dale) Dieckbernd; three step-daughters: Evelyn (Hank) Sale, Jeannette Kennedy, and Peggy (Kim) Fortney; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her first husband and second husband, Emily was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, DeWayne “Wink” Williams; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Ellsworth; two step-sons, Wayne Bell and Larry Bell; two brothers, Dean Wilson and Roscoe Wilson; and four sisters: Pearl Caudle, Laura Hanford, Lila Peck, and Edith Rohloff.

Private family graveside services will be held in HAZEL RIDGE CEMETERY, Elkhorn, WI, at a later date. JANDT-FREDRICKSON FUNERAL HOMES AND CREMATORY, (Woodruff Chapel), La Crosse, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
