John Delbert (Delby) Long, 78, of Walworth, WI, stepped into glory to meet his Savior on Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2013, at his home. He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren at the time. He passed peacefully, amidst the celebration of all that his life on earth had meant, and the assurance of the reunion with his son, John Delbert, Jr. (J.D). Del was born on Dec. 5, 1934, in Elkhorn, WI. He was the son of late William and Helen Long. Del graduated from Walworth High School in 1953, and married the love of his life Mary Knapp on March 1, 1957. After returning to Walworth, from serving in the army (Korea), Del worked at Big Foot High School, Fontana Grade School, and most recently served as a crossing guard for the Walworth Grade School. His life involved activity with students of all ages which brought him great joy. He was also a member of the Walworth Fire/Rescue. Del was a devoted father to six sons.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 57 years, Mary; and his children: Michael (Lori) of Walworth, James (Teri) of Walworth, Andrew (Laura) of Walworth, Matthew (Cathy) of Walworth, and Daniel (Natalie) of Walworth. He is further survived by his 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Brandon and Adam Basso, Faith, Mackenzie, Monique, Megan, Tim, Matthew, Rachel, Victoria, Christopher, A.J, Abigal, and Takiyah. He is also survived by his sister, Lucy Sandy. Del was preceded in death by his son, J.D (Amy), grandson, baby Michael; parents, William and Helen; brother, William; and sister, Thelma.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. with a viewing at 10 a.m. from CALVARY COMMUNITY CHURCH in Williams Bay. Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m. at TOYTON FUNERAL HOME in Walworth. Burial will take place at Walworth Cemetery.
