Donald Earl Pierce, Edgerton (1920-2013)

Donald Earl Pierce, 93, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at the Edgerton Care Center, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Sept. 30, 1920, in Edgerton, son of the late Morton and Carrie (Amundson) Pierce. He was united in marriage to Jeanne King on Jan. 12, 1946, in Jefferson. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2010. Don worked as an inspector for the Fairbanks Morse Company for over 30 years, until his retirement. He also farmed for many years on his farm in Busseyville. He enjoyed summer holidays, camping with family and friends at " The Lot" in Jefferson. He was also a member of the Fairbanks Quarter Century Club.
Don is survived by two sons, King (Martha) Pierce of Edgerton, and Rodger Pierce of Richland Center; one daughter, Jeanine (Mark) Gardner also of Richland Center; five grandchildren: Robert (Christine) Pierce, Jerrod Wiedmer, Amanda (Steve) Wesley, Leigh (Sarah) Pierce and Casi (Josh) Genung; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, June Bright of Milton; dear friends, Richie and Joyce Lokken, whom they spent over 20 winters in Florida with; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dean, at birth; one granddaughter, Nicole Pierce; three sisters and one brother.
A gathering and celebration of Don's life will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at the EHLERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, US HWY 51 N. Burial will be in the Busseyville Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, Memorials may be made to MS for his granddaughter, Nicole or to ALS for his grandson, Bob, in Donald's name.
