I commend Gov. Walker for protecting Wisconsinites from the disastrous rollout of Obamacare. Walker called a special session of the Legislature to extend the deadline by three months for individuals moving to the federal exchange, as well as for Wisconsin’s high-risk plan that protects Wisconsin’s most vulnerable residents.

Walker recognizes it would be irresponsible to force Wisconsinites to pay the price for Obamacare’s failure. Walker also called on Obama to provide more options to Wisconsinites who qualify for subsidies, by allowing them to use their subsidies to purchase any qualified health plan, not just those listed in the exchange.

Walker’s reforms to the Medicaid entitlement program preserved it for the neediest. Unlike under Democratic policies, for the first time, Wisconsin will provide health coverage for everyone living in poverty through Medicaid and allow those above that level to access health insurance through the exchanges or the private market. Walker also protected Wisconsin taxpayers from uncertainty related to the federal government’s funding. Walker’s reforms will be delayed by three months because of Obamacare’s failures. This will ensure a smooth transition for the 77,000 Wisconsinites who will now be moving into the exchanges.

Obama mandated another delay from October to November next year to hide the disastrous 2015 premium hikes and cancelations of Obamacare until after the 2014 election. Obama doesn’t care that people are suffering. He just wants Democrats in control.

Walker continues to show Wisconsin and America what real leadership looks like.
