Jets down Coulee Region 5-1
The Janesville Jets’ offense erupted during the second period of a North American Hockey League game Friday night.
The Jets scored four second-period goals on their way to a 5-1 victory over the Coulee Region Chill at the Janesville Ice Arena, the opener of a home-and-home weekend series.
James McGing gave Coulee Region the lead with less than three minutes remaining in the first period, but Logan Halladay (27 saves) stood tall the rest of the way in net for Janesville.
Halladay got some help at the other end of the ice during a wild second period. Grant Stueve scored his third goal four minutes in, and Jordan Himley’s tally—his team-leading 26th point—gave the Jets the lead two minutes later.
Evan Feno, who entered the game with one goal this season, scored a pair of goals—one of them on the power play—to round out the period. He later added an assist on a third-period power-play goal.
The Jets (21 points, fifth place North Division) were 2 for 6 on the man-advantage, and they held Coulee Region (26, fourth in Midwest) without a power-play goal despite eight opportunities.
The two teams meet again, this time in Onalaska, tonight.
