Byron Floyd Jones, Evansville, WI (1936-2013)

Byron Floyd Jones, age 77, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville. Byron was born on Jan. 13, 1936, in Elkhorn, WI, the son of Rueben and Erma (Swain) Jones. He attended school in Lake Geneva, Brodhead and Albany. He served in the United States Navy on the aircraft carriers, USS Hornet and USS Wasp, from 1953 until 1957. In 1962, he co-owned the Evansville Body Shop and, also, worked for Heacox and Sons Trucking Company. He, later, owned and operated B and L Auto Body Service, retiring after twenty one years. Byron married Lillian Drost on June 17, 1961, in the Methodist Church in Fall River, WI. Byron and Lillian enjoyed traveling and visiting all forty eight states and part of Canada. He enjoyed collecting toy cars, match safes and oil cans.
Byron is survived by his loving wife of fifty two years, Lillian; his sister, Carole (Wayne) Zweifel of Blanchardville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Jones of East Troy; special nephews, Robert and Russell Hinzpeter of Lake Geneva; other nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Darlene Leech, Ruby Hinzpeter and Audrey Keith; two brothers, Samuel "Parry" Jones and Paul Jones; a brother in-law, Robert "Curly" Hinzpeter; two nephews; and his beloved black lab dog, "Dog".
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, 130 S. 5th Street, Evansville, followed by a Military Service. Friends may call on Saturday Nov. 30, 2013, from 12 Noon until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be held at a later date in Union Church Cemetery Albany, Township. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Byron's name to the Rock County or Green County Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
