TOWN OF CENTER—An Evansville man is in custody at the Rock County Jail after being arrested Monday afternoon on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, his sixth offense, according to a Rock County Sheriff's Office news release.

Curt L. Baumer, 32, also was cited for failure to maintain control of vehicle, the release stated.

Baumer was driving north in the town of Center on Weary Road, which was snow-covered and slippery, when he lost control of his 1992 Ford F150, causing the truck to enter the ditch and crash into scrub brush at the bottom of an embankment.

When deputies arrived just before 4 p.m. Monday, Baumer admitted drinking before the crash, and he failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, where he agreed to a chemical blood draw. After being medically cleared, he was taken to the county jail, according to the release.

Evansville police and fire also assisted at the scene.
