Police seek suspect in fatal Beloit shooting
BELOIT — Beloit police are looking for a 20-year-old man who might have been involved in the death of a man from South Beloit, Ill. early Sunday morning.
Beloit police have reason to believe that Ezekiel "Chucky" Villa shot and killed the South Beloit man on Beloit's near-east side, according to a police news release.
Beloit police were called at 2:11 a.m. Sunday to reports of shots fired in the area of Keeler and Wisconsin avenues. They discovered the shooting scene at a residence in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, where they found the 19-year-old suffering life-threatening injuries, according to a news release.
Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the news release.
Police are withholding the victim's name pending notification of family members.
Department investigators, evidence technicians, and drug and gang unit members are investigating, the news release indicated.
Investigators believe the shooting happened during a party at the residence, but “the circumstances that led up to the shooting have not yet been determined.”
Villa is described as Hispanic, 5-foot, 10-inches, 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
