Rock Valley roundup: East Troy opens season with win

East Troy’s boys basketball team began defense of its Rock Valley North title by pulling away from Evansville on Friday night.

Will Iloncaie led four players in double figures with 24 points as the Trojans beat the Blue Devils, 78-69.

Evansville kept it close for three quarters, trailing only 56-52 heading into the fourth. East Troy kept the Blue Devils at bay by making 24 free throws.

Freshman Brennan Banks had a game-high 25 points to lead Evansville.

• Whitewater 53, McFarland 46—Sean Chislom had 17 points for the Spartans in their Rock Valley North boys basketball opener, but the fell to the Whippets.

Whitewater had three scorers in double figures and went 6-for-10 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.
