JANESVILLE—Van Buren Elementary School is in second place in a national contest that could bring the school a $25,000 prize.

The contest counts votes on the U.S. Cellular website. The top 20 vote-getters when the contest ends Monday each will receive $25,000.

If Van Buren wins, it will use the money to buy SMART Boards, iPads and mobile computer labs, the school district announced.

To vote, go to USCellular.com and click on “Calling all Communities.” No purchase is necessary. Participants do not need to be US Cellular customers. Voters must be at least 18 and have an email account.

Janesville's Monroe Elementary School won $50,000 in the contest last year. Contest rules were changed to make the maximum prize $25,000.
