Janesville Jets routed 10-4
JANESVILLE—The last-place Janesville Jets played their second game of the weekend against the first-place Port Huron Fighting Falcons, and the final result—a Port Huron win—wasn’t necessarily all that surprising. But the manner by which the Falcons dominated couldn’t have been expected.
Matt Seidel scored four times and had two assists in Port Huron’s 10-4 win.
Heading into the third period, the Jets already faced a steep, 5-2 hill to climb to try and force overtime. Drew Callin did score first to make it 5-3 with more than 17 minutes remaining, but a four-minute stretch in the third period saw four Falcon goals turn the brief comeback push into a full-blown rout.
Jets goalie Brock Kautz took the brunt of the punishment, allowing seven of the goals and saving 36 shots in 47:37 of play. Logan Halladay finished off the remainder of the game and allowed three more goals of his own.
Janesville will stew over this game all week waiting for next weekend’s two-game set in Springfield, Ill., against the Junior Blues.
