November 3, 1975 - November 8, 2013

Andrew J. Grenia died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, after a sudden brain injury. Andy was born on Nov. 3, 1975, to Virgil and Judith Grenia. He grew up in Janesville, with his brothers, David and Mike, and his sister, Laura. He attended both Craig and Parker High Schools. Andy was a valued member of the team at Royle Printing in Sun Prairie, for the last several years and, prior to that, an equally valued and longtime staff member at Parts Now in Madison.

Andy had a fiery soul and approached his life unflinchingly. From believing that he was The Incredible Hulk as a child to attending a protest with Tiffany on their first date, he always stood up for what was right and just. He had a boundless loyalty to his friends and family. His heroes in life were comedians, Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce, for their dark humor and bold telling of truths; and he had a great love of punk rock music for similar reasons. He was that rare combination of a dissenting rebel and a gentle man with a huge heart. He fought the good fight until the very end, and his passing leaves a unique void in the world.

Andy's absence will be deeply felt by those he left behind: his soul mate, Tiffany Green; his father, Virgil (Sheilah) Grenia; his sister, Laura (Gregg) Baker; his brothers, Mike (Debbie) Grenia and David Grenia; his beloved nieces, Lily and Gabrielle Baker; nephew, Griff Baker; a niece or nephew soon to arrive; and countless dear friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his niece and partner-in-crime, Sora Baker; his mother, Judith Grenia; and close friends, Josh Frazer and Daniel Kies.

Andy's family and partner extend their endless gratitude to the staff at St. Mary's SSICU and to the staff of UW Organ and Tissue Donation for their excellent care and championing of Andy.

A celebration of Andy's life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (via the tribute page for Andy at http://www.cff.org/Tribute/UncleAndy) or to the Dane County Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
