Edgerton man hurt in fall from tree stand

WAUKON, Iowa—An Edgerton man was injured in a fall from a tree stand in northeast Iowa on Sunday.

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office said Thomas Cheney, 50, used his cellphone to call 911 just before noon on Sunday. He'd fallen from the stand in the French Creek Public Hunting Area in rural Allamakee County. 

Cheney was found and flown to a hospital in La Crosse.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating the accident.
