EVANSVILLE—One week after kicking off her campaign for state Senate, Rep. Janis Ringhand, D-Evansville, has picked up the endorsement of former Sen. Judy Robson, D-Beloit.

Ringhand represents the 45th Assembly District. She is running for the 15th District Senate seat held by Tim Cullen, D-Janesville. He is leaving the Legislature at the end of his term.

Cullen was elected in 2010 to fill Robson's seat.

“For 23 years, I humbly served Rock County and its surrounding communities in both the state Assembly and state Senate,” Robson said. “I know what matters most to our community, and I firmly believe that the best person to represent our values in the state Senate is Janis Ringhand.

“When it comes to creating jobs, standing up for rights of women and investing in our local workforce and community, Janis Ringhand has and will continue to be a leader for Beloit and south central Wisconsin.”

Ringhand is the first Senate district candidate to file her declaration of candidacy.

The general election will be Nov. 4, 2014. A partisan primary, if needed, would be Aug. 12.

Candidates have until June 2 to file nomination papers and other ballot access documents.
