Sharon Jean Skinner, age 65, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Nazareth Health and Rehab Center, Stoughton, WI. She was born in Chicago, IL, on Dec. 22, 1947, the daughter of Arthur Sinclare and Marardel "Peggy" (Olson) Shields. Sharon married Fred Skinner on April 23, 1977, in Chicago, IL. Sharon has worked at the Board of Trade- Midwest Stock Exchange in Chicago. She also worked as a physical therapist aide at the Evansville Manor and Skaalen Home. She has served on two different Board of Educations: one in Chicago known as the Local School Council and the Evansville School Board which she loved. Sharon loved to do ceramics and embroidering with her friends, Jenifer Tiedt, Chris Leggett, Sherri Anderson and Marty. She was a member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Evansville. Sharon will be missed by many. She was very positive and a free spirit. Sharon was a fighter when it came to health issues and was very brave. She loved children and enjoyed it when her house was full of kids. She was very giving and looked out for her people and neighbors. She loved the Evansville Police Department and EMS, who helped her many times. Sharon especially loved her church and extended church family. She respected her fellow Evansville School Board members, especially Kathy Swanson who became her friend. Sharon was a good person, Kindred spirit. She's home with God now and in good hands. She will be watching over us. Most of all she loved her only son, Aaron, so much.

Sharon is survived by her beloved husband, Fred Skinner of Evansville; her children: Aaron (Nicole) Skinner of Stoughton, Emily, Danny, Shawn Shields, all of Evansville, and Shannon (Rob) Monroe of Rockford; her grandchildren, Cal and Liam, who were the joy of her life; Matt Goins of Oregon, who she thought of as a son; her nieces and nephew: Emily, Sara and Eliot (Amy) Skinner; her dog, Mia Belle, who she loved very much; her cousins, Toby (Louise) Howard of Chaham, IL, and Reverend Paul (Sheila) Olson of Prior Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Arthur Shields, Jr. and Ralph Shields. Her best friends are Patti Wolverton of Glendale, AZ, Roxanne Schlobohm of Chicago, Sandy Gunderson of Antock, IL, Pam Guidace of Florida, friends for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Evansville, with Reverend Dr. Luke Bocher officiating. A visitation will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at the WARD-HURTLEY FUNERAL HOME, Evansville.
