WHITEWATER-- Visitors to the Whitewater Arts Alliance's Cultural Arts Center this month will enjoy art by its members as well as a poetry reading by Holly Wilson, an assistant professor of languages and literature at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

The annual Whitewater Arts Alliance Members Show--and sale--will be held at Whitewater's Cultural Arts Center, 402 West Main Street, from Thursday, Nov. 7 to Saturday, Dec. 7.  The gallery will be open Thursday through Sunday each week from noon to 5 p.m. except the week of Thanksgiving (Nov. 28 –Dec. 1).

The show exhibits two- and three-dimensional art and craft pieces of various media that were created by Whitewater Arts Alliance members during 2013.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite pieces in the exhibit from Nov. 7 to Nov. 24. The digital images of the pieces with the four highest numbers of votes will be made into note cards, which will be available for sale to benefit the Whitewater Arts Alliance.

A free opening reception will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Music will be provided by UW-Whitewater's Chancellor's Quartet.

The Whitewater Arts Alliance's Monthly Musings poetry reading will take place November 14 at 7 p.m. at the Cultural Arts Center. Wilson will read from “The Lonely.”  Her fiction has appeared in Redivider, Opium, Northwest Review, and Narrative Magazine, and her work has won awards from the Sewanee Writers' Conference, the Colgate Writers' Conference, and the Gulf Coast Association of Creative Writing Teachers.
