Sex offenders found violating rules on Halloween

Halloween checks of local sex offenders resulted in arrests in Walworth County but not in Janesville.

The Janesville police and the Walworth County Sheriff's Office conducted Halloween operations, Walworth County for the fifth straight year.

Walworth County deputies, along with local police officers and state probation and parole agents, conducted checks Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 26 and 27, and on Thursday, Oct. 31. They went to the homes of 134 known registered sex offenders who are on active supervision through the state Department of Corrections.

Three men were found to be in violation of supervision rules and were taken to the Walworth County Jail on probation/parole holds.

Two other Walworth men had outstanding warrants that required temporary confinement, a news release states.

Assisting in the Walworth County sweeps were police from the Whitewater, Elkhorn and Sharon departments.

Janesville police and state probation and parole agents checked 43 supervised sex offenders in Janesville during the trick-or-treat hours Thursday. All were in compliance with their rules.
