Valida P. Gutzman, age 84, of Janesville, died on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Huntington Place. She was born in Chicago, on March 24, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Ethel (Bassnet) Ricard. She attended Janesville schools and graduated from Janesville High School in 1947. Valida married Clarence Gutzman on Dec. 24, 1948, at First Presbyterian Church, Janesville, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1994. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and the Breakfast Club at Roosevelt School. She enjoyed reading, having lunch with classmates, loved spending time with her family, and her shopping trips to Chicago.

Valida is survived by her two daughters, Diane (George) Faulkner of Monee, IL, and Debra (Stephen) McNally of Janesville; and three grandchildren: Sarah (Brian Payne) McNally, Meghan McNally and Katie McNally, all of Janesville. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Lasting Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, Rockford, IL, or the Rock County Humane Society.
