Carol Dahl, Wisconsin Dells (1927 - 2013)
June 29, 1927 - October 24, 2013
Carol (Rusty) Dahl, age 86 of Wisconsin Dells, WI, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at the St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo, WI. Rusty was born June 29, 1927, in Edgerton, WI, the son of Anton and Melvie (Olstad) Dahl. “Rusty” comes from a brand new shotgun that got left in a tank of water and rusted. He was married to Nancy (Furseth) for 65 years. He passed with her sitting by his side holding his hand along with his two children. He loved his family, his work, his customers and fishing. He was in the Army - the Dental Corp - serving in the Philippines in World War II. He started working for Chambers and Owen in Janesville, WI, in 1946, at 19 years of age. He started as a 'temp,' worked his way into a full time sales position and eventually became the Sales Manager. He was the youngest sales rep at C & O when he started, and was affectionately called "The Kid." He left Chambers and Owen after 26 years to go to work as the Sales Manager for Holiday Wholesale in Wisconsin Dells, WI. He worked for Holiday for 34 years, starting in September 1973 and retiring in November 2007. Rusty's 61 year sales career was extremely successful; he won numerous national sales contests and was revered for his ability to maximize the sale of items sold off 'racks' at various retailers (Leggs Pantyhose, jackknives, gloves, sun-glasses, etc). Rusty turned this new sales form - rack sales - into an art form.
Rusty is survived by his wife, Nancy (Furseth) Dahl; his son, Mark Dahl; his daughter, Melvie (Dahl) Strampe; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
