John was a dedicated family man who was active in every aspect of his children's lives. He was very gratified by his profession. He joined the Milton Police Department in May 1992. He positively impacted the lives of all who knew him and helped make Milton, a better, safer place for all.

John loved to travel, especially to Graceland, since he was a very enthusiastic Elvis fan. He was a great cook and an avid sports fan, rooting for the Green Bay packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Wisconsin Badgers. He enjoyed coaching youth sports in Milton. As a young boy, he was fascinated by airplanes and loved annually attending the EAA Air Show in Oshkosh. He was especially fond of the Warbirds and the Blue Angels.
