Coulee Region chills Jets' winning streak
A strong power play helped Coulee Region end the Janesville Jets’ four-game winning streak on Thursday night.
The Chill went 3-for-4 on the man advantage and Mac Jansen scored three goals as they beat the Jets 6-3 in the teams’ fifth meeting in the early goings of the North American Hockey League season.
Janesville fell to 5-5-1; Coulee Region is 8-7-0.
The teams traded goals in the first period before Jansen and his power-play group came unleashed. He scored on the advantage less than four minutes into the second, got an even-strength goal at 8:33 and then found the back of the net on the power play with less than four minutes remaining.
Jordan Himley’s goal cut Janesville’s deficit to 4-3 with 72 seconds remaining, but the Chill pulled away with a pair of empty-net tallies.
Goalie Logan Halladay stopped 19 of the 23 shots he saw for Janesville, which opens a two game road series with the Minnesota Magicians tonight.
