TOWN OF LA PRAIRIE—Three people were injured, one of them critically, in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor.

Miguel De Aquino Benito, 25, Beloit, was in critical condition at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, while Ruben Abarca Mgudino, 32, Beloit, was in serious condition, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

Both men had been thrown from a pickup truck, which rolled after a collision with a minivan driven by Joan Wotton, 85,  Janesville.

Wotton was listed in good condition at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital.

The men were not wearing seat belts, according to the news release. Wotton was wearing hers.

Authorities were called to the intersection of County G and La Prairie-Turtle Townline Road at 12:59 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators believe the truck was eastbound on Townline Road while the van was northbound on County G. After stopping at the stop sign, the truck failed to yield the right of way and entered the intersection into the path of the van, the news release states.

The collision caused the truck to roll and the van to spin. Open intoxicants were found in the truck, according to the news release.

The collision remains under investigation.

Responding to the scene were  Rock County deputies, the town of Turtle and city of Beloit fire departments, Paratech Ambulance, Mobile Doctor 1, and town of Beloit police.
