Benefits to aid cancer causes
POKER WALK FOR CINDY PELTON
When and where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at downtown Janesville bars.
Purpose of Walk: To help Cindy Pelton, Janesville, who also owns Someplace Else Pub & Grub, 121 E. Milwaukee St., with her battle against breast cancer.
“She was diagnosed in August and had to have a double mastectomy,” said walk organizer KayC Grove, manager of Someplace Else.
“We started a poker walk because of breast cancer awareness month, and it turned into something nice for someone we could help out,” Grove said.

Cost and how it works: Start and sign up at any participating bar for $20 then walk from bar to bar to get a playing card at each tavern. At the end the fundraiser, the best five poker hands will win money prizes.
PINK PARTY TO BENEFIT THE ROCK COUNTY CANCER COALITION
When and where: 6 p.m. until bar time, Saturday, Oct. 19, at Someplace Else Pub & Grub, 121 E. Milwaukee St., Janesville.
Featured: Raffles and auctions throughout the night plus live music from 6 p.m. until the bar closes. $2 pink hard lemonades, $1 flavored shots and a variety of pink and fun specialty drinks will be sold.
Proceeds will go to the Rock County Cancer Coalition to assist cancer patients, provide education and fund cancer research.
