WCAC series highlights local literary artists
WHITEWATER--Monthly Musings, readings by local literary artists, will take place over the next three months at the Whitewater Cultural Arts Center.
Monthly Musings was recently created by Board President Mark McPhail for the Whitewater Arts Alliance's Cultural Arts Center on 402 West Main Street. It features readings by local literary artists.
The first event is Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and features Lauren Smith reading “Birdello.” Smith is professor and chair of women's studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she has worked for more than ten years. The co-author of two books of non-fiction on intercultural families, a chapbook of poetry, and many poems and essays published in literary journals, literature and writing have brought her many of her best friends and greatest adventures.
On Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Holly Wilson will read, “The Lonely.” Wilson teaches in the department of languages and literatures at UW-Whitewater.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m., Mark Lawrence McPhail, dean of the College of Arts and Communication as well as president of the board of the Whitewater Arts Alliance, will read “A Town that Bears Your Name.”
