MILTON—Milton police are trying to find a young man who slipped away from a resident after the person caught him breaking in.

According to a news release, a resident arrived home in the 300 block of College Street about 3:46 p.m. Tuesday and saw a young, possibly high school-age male bolt out of the back door.

The resident apparently tried to detain the male, who is described as white, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a thin or medium build, but he escaped, got on a bicycle, rode off on Rogers Street, and then got onto Madison Avenue, police said.

The male was wearing a black hat, black T-shirt, blue jeans and was riding a blue  BMX-style bicycle, police said.

No items in the house were missing, police said. Police believe the male saw the resident come home and took off.

Police are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and are asking people to call 608-757-2244 or Janesville Area CrimeStoppers at 608-756-3636. Anonymous tips can also be sent via text to CRIMES (274637), then enter JACS, plus your message.
