JANESVILLE—The Janesville Jets opened their season at the Janesville Ice Arena on Friday with a bang.

The Coulee Region Chill led 2-1 early in the third when a fight between the two teams broke out. In the aftermath, each team had a player ejected—Grant Frederic for the Jets—and players combined for nearly 100 penalty minutes in the final period alone.

In the ensuing power play for the Chill, they scored to go up 3-1 with 12:16 left in the game to secure the victory. They would later add an empty-net goal with about a minute remaining.

Seconds before the fight began, Michael Louria scored his second goal of the young season for the Jets with an assist from Alex Tremblay to cut the Chill's 2-0 lead in half.

Jets goaltender Brock Kautz saved 24 shots, but the two goals scored against him in the first two periods were too much for his teammates to overcome.
