JANESVILLE—The state Department of Health Services is encouraging local residents bring their questions about the Affordable Health Care Act to a town hall meeting Thursday.

The meeting will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Allen Hall, room AH106, at UW-Rock County, 2909 Kellogg Ave., Janesville.

The meeting is part of a series of events being held throughout the state. The Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and the Department of Health Services are sponsoring the meetings.

The Affordable Health Care Act mandates that all individuals carry some kind of health insurance or face a penalty.

People who do not get their health care through their employer can buy it on the open marketplace by going to healthcare.gov.
