BELOIT—Beloit Police confirmed officers have recovered a body in the Rock River Tuesday evening.

An employee at the Beloit police precinct confirmed officers recovered a body that was floating in the water on the river near a former power and light substation, next to the dam south of Portland Avenue and Highway 51.

Reports came in of a water rescue called out before 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to dispatch reports, and the body was apparently located shortly after that.

The body has not been officially identified, the police employee said, and officers and the Rock County Coroner's office were still working at the scene.

No further details were available.
