VERONA--The Janesville Parker girls tennis team hoped that a postponement might help it turn things around against Verona.

The Wildcats had other ideas on Monday, however, as they swept the Vikings 7-0 in a Big Eight event that was postponed mid-match by rain on Thurday.

“Most of the matches were (postponed) in the second set,” Parker coach Justin Long said. “There aren't too many times you get to finish a match like that. We tried to stress that it was a new day, but it just didn't work out that way.”

Meghann Hoag lost her first match at No. 2 singles, a 6-1, 7-5, loss to Greta Schmitz.

“We just missed our opportunities,” Long said. “We've got to be aggressive every point.”

Parker returns to the court to host Sun Prairie today.
