Girls tennis: Parker's Hoag still undefeated; Craig scuffles in Hartford

JANESVILLE—Meghann Hoag continues to be the story for Janesville Parker’s girls tennis team.

Hoag won the No. 2 singles title at the Parker Invitational on Saturday to improve to 15-0 on the season playing in the No. 2 spot.

Lake Geneva Badger won the 8-team title with 17 points, with Jefferson finishing second with 14.5. Milton was third with 12.5 and Parker fourth with 11.

Jefferson’s Paige Ganser won the No. 1 singles title, while Joanie Williams and Andrea Thironis of Badger won the No. 1 doubles crown.

No. 1—Title: Joanie Williams-Andrea Thironis (LGB) def. Elizabeth Severance Rosalie Sellman (JP), 6-0, 6-0.

No. 2—Title: Ninna Mendoza-Sydney Schoeberle (Mil) def. Rachel Davis-Danielle Nelson (Edg), 6-4, 6-2.

No. 3—Title: Jillian Suhe-Alexis Wisdom (LGB() def. Faith Dittman-Bethany Crandall (Mil), 2-3.

• Craig goes 0-3 at Hartford invite—Playing at the eight-team Hartford Union invite, which was split into two quadrangulars, the Cougars went 0-3 playing against Elkhorn, Muskego and the hosts, Hartford Union.

Muskego and Hartford each swept the Cougars, 7-0. Against Elkhorn, Craig’s No. 3 singles player Amanda Wilkie won her match, and the No. 4 singles player Ashley Frisque beat her opponent from Elkhorn.

Head coach Bill Peyer said his team played well but came up against good competition on the road.
