DARIEN--S.M.I.L.E.S., the therapeutic riding center, will host “Superstar Horse Show,” a student horse show and open house, beginning 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at its facility located at N2666 County Highway K, Darien.

The event is an opportunity for the Special Methods In Learning Equine Skills organization to showcase the accomplishments of its riders. The facility will also be up for show, with tours of the barn, sensory garden and sensory riding trail.

Festivities begin with an opening flag ceremony that includes an appearance by Bango of the Milwaukee Bucks.  Participants will then show in several classes, highlighting the gains they have made through therapeutic riding.  Judging will be conducted by Ryan Prince, a professional equestrian with a background in instructing therapeutic riding lessons.

This event is also a fundraiser for S.M.I.L.E.S.  Each participant in the show has collected a minimum of $75 in pledges toward the ridership/scholarship fund to earn a seat in the show.

Attendance is open to the public, and admission is free.
